Serpentine Pavilion 2025
Architects: Marina Tabassum
Location: London, UK
Photographer: Sergey Melnikov
The Serpentine Pavilion in London’s Hyde Park is an annual architectural commission that has been captivating visitors since 2000. Each summer, the Serpentine Galleries invite a different internationally renowned architect, who has not yet completed a building in the UK, to design a temporary pavilion. Over the years, this tradition has produced a remarkable collection of bold, experimental structures by some of the most influential voices in contemporary architecture.
This year’s pavilion, designed by Marina Tabassum from Bangladesh, is a serene and thoughtful structure inspired by the concept of a gathering space. Its lightweight, transparent design blends harmoniously with the surrounding park, creating a calm, meditative atmosphere. The pavilion’s form invites both quiet reflection and social interaction, embodying Tabassum’s focus on human connection and sustainability.
Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph the pavilion, capturing its delicate interplay of light, shadow, and texture. My architectural photography aimed to show not only the precision of its design but also the way it interacts with natural environment — a space that is both art and architecture in perfect balance.
